Your Garmin just died… Now what?!?

Bummer… I’ve been searching the net for authorized service centers here in Manila. No such luck… =(

But for the MacGyver in us, there’s always hope.
And I found a site on how to dismantle a Garmin. Eeekkk!!!
And hopefully help in knowing its components. =)

Here’s the link:

Dismantle the Garmin Forerunner 205

I’ve never tried it as I have no Garmin to dismantle.
So… use at your own risk!!!

Do take note that the battery is soldered. If you plan to replace the battery, it needs to be de-soldered first.

Btw… MacGyver just called. He said, If you happen to own a messed up Garmin, give him a holler. I think he has some hope for you.

Laters!!!

    wala pa ako garmin. hehehe.
usually 2 years ang life-span ng garmins. depends din siguro sa frequency ng use.
pero konti na lang… i think i have a solution for dead garmins. =D

or you can try this first.

To power the unit back on, press the “Mode” and “Reset” buttons at the same time. Let go of those two buttons, press the power button, and the unit will turn back on.”

Well Rod, my Garmin hasn't died yet but the software nearly did. I wasn't able to download the Garmin for a couple of weeks due to an error message. Fortunately, tech support took care of it for me. Take care my friend! – Wayne

idol!!! yup, tama ka medyo lugi tayo if two years lang ang life-span ng garmin. okay pa naman ako without it din. pero kung may magregalo hindi ko tatanggihan. =D

but im actually trying to dissect and study the components of the garmin. baka sakaling may magawa tayong paraan to extend its life or make it indisposable. =D
